Hey, I’m Sam
I'm a designer and art director based in San Francisco. I graduated from the University of Oregon with my master’s degree in Advertising and minors in Business Administration and Food Studies.
I’ve always been endlessly curious. From people and food to design and the way visuals shape the world. I fell in love with publication design early on—magazines, newspapers, books, anything that tells a story through typography and layout. Still, I find myself drawn to all forms of thoughtful design. Whether I’m working on a brand identity or a campaign, I approach every project with curiosity, craft, and a deep respect for the details. I live for the kind of work that makes someone stop on the street and think, “Wow, how did they come up with that?”
I didn’t sign up for sports as a kid. Instead, you’d find me making clothes for my Barbies out of recycled magazines. Creativity has always been my way of understanding the world, and today it’s how I connect ideas, people, and purpose through design.
Beyond the desk
Because designing doesn’t end when I close my laptop.
Cooking and food
Cooking has been my main creative outlet since day one. I started taking cooking classes when I was about ten and never looked back (though I did almost apply to culinary school—thank goodness I didn’t).
Jewelery Making
Jewelry making is one of those hobbies that stuck. During the dark ages—otherwise known as my time as a business major during COVID—I ran a small jewelry shop out of my dorm room. I designed my own branding, made packaging by hand, and sold custom pieces on Etsy.
Collages
I have a collection of TIME magazines that goes back to the 1990s. You can’t really read them anymore since most of the pages have been cut up and turned into collages. I love hunting through old books, posters, and magazines for the perfect image or phrase to piece together something new.
